Knowles seeking Flomaton mayor

FHS grad wants to see community growth

“I just care about the town I grew up in,” is what Kevin Knowles said made him decide to run for mayor of Flomaton in the upcoming Aug. 25 election.

“I just want to do my part for those of us still here and love Flomaton,” Knowles said.

Knowles, 39, is a 1999 graduate of Flomaton High School and wants to make the town better so more Flomaton residents can stay home or return home.

“I'm beyond excited for the opportunity to run for mayor of this great town,” Knowles said. “The world is changing and our little town is also. My vision for Flomaton is community growth and expansion. I want every citizen to feel as if he or she has a voice. Together, we can work to provide the best for everyone. It's our town.”

Knowles said he was a Christian and the son of Gary and Joan Knowles of Flomaton. He is the father of two sons, Grayson and Garrison, who attend Flomaton Elementary School.

Knowles said Flomaton's industrial and economic growth is paramount for progress and growth.

“One of our greatest assets is Highway 113 and it's been overlooked in terms of economic growth,” he said. “Industrial growth means our friends and family members will not have to travel so far for work.”

Knowles said Flomaton's history is essential in building opportunities, and recreational activities for everyone is vital.

“I see opportunities to better manage the town's money and projects,” he said. “I also see opportunities of using economic block grants to further assist the citizens that live in our town and the businesses that operate in our town.”

Knowles also said he wants to make Flomaton's first responders a top priority, saying they are the people who keep the residents of Flomaton safe.

“If elected, I personally guarantee that our elderly population will be respected, represented, cared for and provided with opportunities for increased social interaction,” Knowles said.

“As you see I have used the terms we, us and our throughout my vision because I need your support in making this happen,” Knowles said. “Neighboring towns are bypassing us in industry and innovation. It's time that we become the change that we need to knit the whole community together.”

Knowles added that he hopes to talk to every citizens in Flomaton, but understands the virus will prevent that.

“I'm just asking you support for all of us,” he said.
