Charles Melvin Murphy, 88, of Brewton, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Murphy was born April 30, 1932, in Tuskegee, Ala. A former resident of Andalusia, Ala. before moving to Brewton, he was of th Baptist faith, a member of the Masonic Lodge and retired from Goodyear.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bradley officiating. Burial followed at Zion Hill Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Murphy is survived by three sons, Larry (Carolyn) Murphy, Stephen (Theresa) Murphy and Jeffery Murphy, all of Brewton; three daughters, Connie (Michael) Psalmonds of Lutz, Fla., Twila (Ricky) Hardee of Peterman, Ala. and Marcie (Chris) Mann of Prattville, Ala.; two brothers, Paul Murphy and Roy Murphy; four sisters, Dorothy Richardson, Ellen Goodman, Louisann Hitchcock and Willie Mae Payme; 14 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
