Herbert “Herb” Lee Prestridge, 84, of Brewton, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, following a brief illness.
Mr. Prestridge was born March 15, 1936, in Greenwood and was a former resident of Pensacola and then a long-time resident of Brewton, where he was a member of the East Brewton Church of Nazarene. A U.S. Air Force veteran and graduate of Whitesburg High School, he retired as a Millwright from Smurfitt-Stone with 28 years of service and had several hobbies.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the East Brewton Church of Nazarene with Dr. James Meadows, Dr. Herbert Heller and Dr. Blake Mohling officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Prestridge is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettie Darling Prestridge of Brewton; one son, Kenneth Prestwood of Wetumpka, Ala.; three daughters, Terry (Jimmy) blankenship of Brewton, Julie (David) Warr of Bainbridge, Ga. and Tina (Paul) Byrd of Atmore; one brother, Hershel (Gloria) Prestridge of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters, Glenda (Henry) McDonald and Brenda (Leon) Tucker, both of Moultrie, Ga.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
