Vaccine clinics on this weekend

New cases of COVID-19 increasing; Flomaton Pharmacy and Poarch giving free vaccine shots this weekend

As COVID-19 numbers begin to rise, residents will have two opportunities to receive free vaccinations this weekend in Flomaton and Poarch.

Flomaton Medical Center Pharmacy on Highway 113, will be holding a vaccine clinic Saturday, June 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians will be holding a clinic from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 15.

According to information released by the Escambia County (Ala.) Heath Care Authority, there have been 37 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in the county from April 6 to April 20.

Vaccines were originally available only to certain age groups and occupations, but they are now available to anyone and are free of charge.

Flomaton

Danny Cottrell, owner of Flomaton Medical Center Pharmacy, said the pharmacy will have 120 doses of the Moderna vaccine available. People wanting the vaccine will need to show their driver's license and insurance card.

People also need to call the pharmacy at 251-296-0001 to make an appointment. Cottrell also said paperwork will have to be filled out before getting the shot, but people can stop by the pharmacy at anytime and get the paperwork and have it ready for Saturday's clinic.

After getting the vaccine, people will be given an appointment to have their second shot 25 days later, which will also be available at the Flomaton pharmacy.

Poarch

Poarch will be giving the Pfizer vaccine from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wind Creek ballroom, located at 303 Poarch Road.

It was noted that people must be at least 16 years old to receive the Pfizer vaccine. No appointment is needed, just show up.
