Visit website to bid on delinquent properties
Escambia County (Ala.) will be holding its online delinquent tax sale beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, May 17, and will continued until 4 p.m. The sale of parcels with past due property taxes will continue at the same time day-to-day until the sale is completed.
Persons interested in bidding on properties need to register at http://www.govease.com.
Tax Collector Tim Pettis noted this is the first year for the online sale vs. selling the properties on the front lawn of the courthouse.
He said Tuesday he expects there will be between 180 and 200 parcels for sale when the online auction begins on Monday.
“We are at about the same number of parcels set for sale that we had last year,” Pettis said. “We're having payments come in every day. I still get calls from people asking 'when's the last day to pay'.
The last day to pay property taxes before the sale will be at 4 p.m. Friday, May 14.
Pettis said owners of properties on the delinquent list were sent letters, but many have come back undeliverable due to either people moving or having bad addresses.
