A benefit car wash will be held Saturday, June 12, beginning at 7 a.m. at Advanced Auto Parts in Flomaton to help support a family who lost everything in a fire Friday night.

Constance and Wesley Madison suffered a total loss at the mobile home, located at 353 Dixon Road in Flomaton.

Flomaton Fire Chief Steve Stanton said emergency personnel was dispatched at 11:38 p.m. Friday and when they arrived they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the front door and windows.

Constance Madison was the only person at home when the fire began and was able to escape unharmed.

Firefighters from Flomaton, Friendship, Lambeth and Century, along with Med 16 and the Flomaton Police Department responded.

Stanton said it took firemen about an hour and a half to get the fire completely put out. The exact cause of the fire has not been determine. In addition to the benefit car wash, Stanton said he has been in contact with the Red Cross to help the family.

Sponsors of the car wash, Tasha Spears, Pete Spears and friends, are asking for $6 to wash cars and $10 for SUV's and trucks. Additional donations are also welcome.
