Flomaton begins its search for a new clerk
The Flomaton Town Council voted to begin advertising for a new town clerk after Carrie Moore announced she was resigning the position effective May 1.
Moore has agreed to accept a position with the Escambia County (Ala.) Commission.
Mayor Dewey Bondurant, Jr., thanked Moore for the job she has done for the town, but told the council there was no way the town could match the salary being offered by the county. He also said he always encourages his own employees at Bondurant Lumber and Hardware to accept new positions if they feel it’s in the best interest them and their family.
Each council member said they ‘reluctantly’ agreed to accept Moore’s resignation.
The advertisement for the clerk’s position is on Page 10-A inside today’s Tri-City Ledger. The deadline to apply is April 11.
Spring Bazaar
Moore did announce that plans are well under way for the town’s Spring Bazaar to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Hurricane Park.
Moore said the Easter Bunny will be on hand to participate in the ‘Easter Egg Dash’ at 10 a.m. She added she has currently collected about 600 plastic eggs but is still asking for donations of plastic eggs and candy. However, she said she didn’t recommend chocolate because it melts.
She’s also reaching out to businesses and individuals to donate prize baskets to be given out to children winning various events. Cash or checks will also be accepted at town hall to help purchase eggs, candy and baskets.
Moore told the council she currently has about 35 vendors signed up for the day and said there will be music, the kiddie train, a bouncy house and plenty of food, including barbecue and catfish plates.
“I just pray for no rain,” Moore said.
