Brewton man is jailed for beating children
A Brewton man is being held on $100,000 bond on two counts of aggravated child abuse for allegedly beating two children in his care.
William Randell Robbins, Sr., 38, 589 Keego Road, was arrested May 23 on warrants executed by the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Department.
According to court records, on or about April 26 Robbins is accused of grabbing a 14-year old boy by the neck and jabbing the child in the eye with his finger. The report stated the abuse occurred on more than one occasion, noting Robbins is accused of hitting the child with his fists and once with a 2x4.
Court records also state on or about Oct. 1, 2021, Robbins abused a 12-year old girl by hitting the child with his fists and throwing her to the ground.
During a bond hearing May 24 before District Judge Eric Coale, Robbins said he had no income and requested a court-appointed attorney. Judge Coale appointed the public defender's office to represent Robbins.
Conditions with the $100,000 bond state Robbins is to have no contact with the victims or any child under the age of 18.
