Brewton man gets busted for drugs

Riley held on $1a.5 million bond after arrest

A Brewton man arrested June 2 on multiple drug charges involving cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone and methamphetamine now sits in the Escambia County Detention Center on $1.5 million bond.

Qudrae Sanchez Riley, 32, 1675 South Boulevard, was charged with three counts of trafficking controlled substances, one county of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court records, on June 6 near Highway 31 and Smith Lane in Brewton, Riley was in possession of 4 pounds of marijuana, 63 grams of a mixture containing cocaine, 10 grams of oxycodone and 25 grams of meth.

Officers also found a digital scale and storage container to store the illegal drugs.

During a bond hearing before District Judge Eric Coale, Riley said he had no job, no income and no assets and requested a court appointed attorney.

Judge Coale appointed the public defender's office to represent him and then set his bond at $1.5 million.

Riley also made no request for a preliminary hearing during his first court appearance.
