Witches, zombies, candy, more on tap

Events across the area begin Friday and will continue through Halloween night, Oct. 31

Local festivities for Halloween and area fall festivals will begin this Friday, Oct. 28, and continue through Monday, Oct. 31.

Atmore

The Atmore Chamber of Commerce's Trick or Treat on the Street will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, with businesses giving candy to participants.

Brewton

Brewton will kickoff the Halloween activities at 3 p.m. Saturday with the Witches of Brewton hitting the streets at 3 p.m.; the Cold Moon Festival at Dogwood Hills at 4 p.m.; and the Zombie Walk and haunted trail at 5 p.m. Little ghosts and goblins will hit the streets in Brewton and East Brewton on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31, with both cities setting a 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. time frame for door-to-door trick or treating.

The Witches of Brewton will leave T.R. Miller High School at 3 p.m. for the broom ride or bike ride through town. Entry fee is $15 and $30 for carts. The witches, which also include warlocks, are raising money for Darby Black who was involved in an automobile crash in May that has left him paraplegic. The Escambia County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting the zombie walk at Dogwood Hills beginning at 5 p.m.

The Halloween Market and music festival at Dogwood Hills will begin at 4 p.m. Musicians hitting the stage will be Paige King Johnson, The Krickets, Ross Newell, Will Kimbrough and Grayson Capps.

Coastal Alabama Community College's Brewton Campus will be hosting a Trunk or Treat Event on Monday, October 31st from 5pm to 7 pm. Parking will be available in front of the Auditorium, Gym and Student Center. The community is encouraged to attend.

Century

The Century Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its third annual Trunk of Treat from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at Pensacola State College Century Campus. Costumes encouraged. No fee. For more info contact 850-679-5779.

Flomaton

There will be a Trunk or Treat in downtown Flomaton from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, with various booths set up for food, fun games and prizes.

Jay

Chumuckla Athletic Assn. will hold its Fall Festival at the Chumuckla Community Center Park located at 2355 County Rd 182 in Jay from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday. Oct. 29. There will be vendors, food, free trunk or treat, bounce houses, hayride, greased pig chase, outdoor competitions, kids fun run and more. Run For Your Cotton Picking Life 5K at 10 a.m. ($25 entry fee). $5 wrist bands for all activities.

The Town of Jay will hold its Trick or Treat on Commerce St. at 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. Kids Costume Contest at 6:30 p.m. No pets in contest. To host a booth, contact 850-675-4556.
