Helton killed in auto crash

Atmore woman dies Thursday

An Atmore woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred last Thursday, Oct. 27, around 2:40 p.m.

Patricia Allen Helton, 57, was fatally injured when the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado she was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned. Helton was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene, According to an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) report.

The crash occurred on Bell Fork Road, about eight miles northeast of Atmore, in Escambia County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., today, Nov. 3, at Robinsonville Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Johnson officiating. Burial will be held at Robinsonville Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at noon today, Nov. 3, until service time at 1 p.m. at Robinsonville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Helton was born July 30, 1965 in Tuscaloosa and had resided in Flomaton until moving to Atmore 21 years ago. She was a member of Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church, and an active member of Household of Faith Ministries.

Mrs. Helton is survived by her husband of 19 years, Rex Helton of Atmore; two sons, Willie Owens, III of Chesapeake, Va. and Landon Helton of Atmore; two daughters, Farron Barrow and Morgan Scott, both of Atmore; two brothers, Mike Allen of Bratt, Fla. and Tony Allen of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Linda Green of Bratt; four grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Helton was preceded in death by her parents, Marce and Peggy Chavers Allen and one step-son Randall Helton.
