$1.725 billion set for Wednesday

Powerball swells as jackpot rolls over

Lines started forming Tuesday morning and continued today at lottery stores in Century as the Powerball jackpot swelled to an estimated $1.725 billion for Wednesday night's drawing. If there were no winners last night, estimates are the jackpot will exceed $2 billion for Saturday night's drawing.

Nobody matched the five numbers, 16, 34, 46,55, 67 and Powerball 14 Monday night. There have been 35 draws since the last Powerball winner on July 19. The jackpot is closing in on the Powerball record of $2.4 billion, won by a single person in California in 2022.

Powerball tickets are $2 where people select five numbers from 1 to 69 and a Powerball from 1 to 26. Players can add an additional $1 for Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot winners.

For example, hitting five-of-five but not the Powerball pays $1 million, add the Power Play and five-of-five wins $2 million. Last week in Florida, four of five numbers and the Powerball paid $50,000 to eight people on the $2 ticket. A $3 ticket with the Power Play would have won $150,000.
