Shots fired call leads to arrests

Flomaton woman among two jailed for drugs

Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's deputies responded to 7400 Jack Springs Road Dec. 24 in reference to shots being fired that led to the arrest of a man with Brewton and Atmore addresses and Flomaton woman on drug charges, with the male suspect also being charged with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Dakota Loren Harmon, 25, with court records listing addresses as Old Highway 31, Lot 13, Brewton, and 7400 Jack Springs Road, Atmore, and Tessa Elizabeth McClure, 21, 1819 College St., Flomaton, were both charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Harmon was also charged with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Deputies first responded to the shots fired call and while in route to Jack Springs Road when dispatch informed them the shooter had left the scene in a silver Nissan Sentra with a female driver, identified as McClure, and a passenger, identified as Harmon in the passenger seat. Harmon was identified as the shooter.

Harmon was accused of firing a shotgun toward another individual with the birdshot striking a vehicle the other subject was behind.

Deputies reported seeing the Nissan Sentra near Ewing Drive and the vehicle made a quick right turn as deputies activated their emergency lights and the vehicle stopped.

Deputies approached the vehicle and Harmon and McClure were removed from the vehicle without incident. Harmon also told deputies the weapon used was in the trunk of the car and stated it was self defense. Officers also learned Harmon had an active warrant for his arrest with the Bay Minette Police Department.

McClure, who owned the vehicle, gave deputies consent to search. In addition to the shotgun, deputies reported finding a bag that contained a crystalized substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. They also reported finding a green leafy material which was later confirmed to be synthetic cannabinoids (spice).

Officers also found a torch lighter, modified paper clip used as a scraper, a burned glass pipe with drug residue and rolling papers. Neither suspect would claim the drugs and both were placed under arrest and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
