Fantroy flees after crash in Conecuh
Federal and state law enforcement agencies searched for almost two days trying to take Ladarius Fantroy into custody after he was involved in a two-car wreck last Wednesday in Conecuh County. Fantroy has been hiding from law enforcement as he is wanted for two counts of murder. The double homicide occurred in the Johnsonville Community last summer and 10-year-old "Joe Joe" Rankin and Jatonio Williams were shot when the arrived at the home that night.
Warrants were issued for Fantroy's arrest, but he has evaded law enforcement until the crash. Fantroy left the scene of the crash and ran into the woods on the south side of U.S. 84 in Belleville.
Conecuh County Sheriff's Office and the Evergreen Police Department immediately came to the scene and began searching for the suspect. They were joined a short time later by United States Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) and other agencies in an attempt to surround the subject.
Traffic on U.S. 84 was stopped for several hours and vehicles were searched in an attempt to apprehend Fantroy. It was rumored that he was seen in the Repton area and also in the Loree Community. The search continued through Thursday. The search is ongoing for Fantroy with federal agencies taking lead on the case at this time.
Those injured in the wreck were transported to Evergreen Medical Center and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with information on Fantroy's whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
