Grand jury indicts Jackson for the murder of Lavor Johnson
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies took a Century man into custody Monday after a local grand jury indicted him on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with a December, 2022, shooting that left Lavor Chante Johnson of Century dead.
Deputies took Jayden Constantine Jackson, 21, of Century into custody Monday around 5:09 p.m. at the Baldwin County Jail in Bay Minette and transported him to the Monroe County Jail in Monroeville. Jackson remained in jail as of Tuesday afternoon on a $1,250,000 bond.
A Monroe County grand jury indicted Jackson in connection with a shooting on Dec. 15, 2022 on Harvestview Drive, which is off the Excel-Frisco Highway. The shooting happened around 2 p.m. that day and when officers arrived they found two men with gunshot wounds. One man – Johnson, 43, also of Century died in the shooting.
A Monroe County grand jury had previously indicted Jayden Devon Jenkins, 20, of Frisco City, and Akeem Paul Anthony Davis, Jr., 24, of Frisco City, charging both with the murder of Johnson.
Jenkins was left paralyzed in the shooting.
Frisco City police officers responded to a shots fired call about 2 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the intersection of Harvestview Drive and reported finding two people had been shot – Johnson and Jenkins. Police reported at the time two guns were recovered at the scene of the shooting.
