Embalming cocktail nets arrests

Four arrested by Atmore Police officers

Atmore police responded to a possible drug overdose that led to four arrests after at Atmore woman apparently passed out after drinking a cocktail that contained GHB and embalming fluid that has a street name of ‘Scoot’.

Leslie Anita Meri Whiting, 35, 301 Beck St., Atmore, Shawn Michael Boutwell, 29,with addresses in Walnut Hill and 301 Beck St., Atmore, Amy Jo Louise Nelson, 47, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Jonathan Sehinasi, 44, of Lake Butler, Fla. were all arrested.

Whiting was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Boutwell was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Nelson was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Sehinasi, 44, of Lake Butler, Fla., was charged with possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports from the Atmore Police Department, officers were dispatched about 8 a.m. to the Beck Street address and encountered the three people and said the unconscious person, Whiting, had consumed the cocktail containing the embalming fluid and GHB.

Police reported during the interaction with the people in the house they discovered there may be additional narcotics in a camper on the property. After a search warrant was obtained, officers discovered methamphetamine and numerous items used to ingest narcotics.

Whiting claimed she had overdosed and was transported to Atmore Community Hospital, where police reported she became confrontational with hospital staff when she thought law enforcement was not present.

Boutwell was also treated and released from Atmore Community Hospital and all four suspects were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
