Jay sets events for 2025 with food, fun

Farm to table event is scheduled for April 5

Discussed at its monthly meeting Tuesday, the Jay Area Chamber of Commerce is planning a ‘Farm-To-Table’ fundraising event on Saturday, April 5, 2025, on Commerce Street that will become an annual event and help the chamber raise money, bringing together area residents, business owners, local farmers and others in Santa Rosa county for one night to celebrate what the town has to offer to those who live and work in the area. In case of rain, the event will be held at Holland Farms.

The event will feature local produce and meat, an auction, a band to perform live music and Farm-To-Table T-shirts, as well as Jay Area Chamber T-shirts.

Still in the planning process, chamber members have been working on a budget and a website that will offer visitors chamber membership, a chance to purchase tickets, become a sponsor and more. Escambia River Electric Cooperative’s Cortney Owens, who is building the website, said it’s at 70 percent completion and will be ready soon.

Donations to the chamber are welcome and sponsorship letters are ready to be sent to local businesses.

There will be 100 tickets available for the event and sponsorship levels start at $500 and go up to $5,000. Each package includes complimentary tickets and other benefits. Tickets will be for sale for $100 each at Trick-Or-Treat on Commerce Street on Oct. 31 at the Jay Area Chamber table where candy will be given out. Guests will have a chance to purchase tickets online once the website is up.

So far, beef, chicken, pork bellies, fall peas, mustard and collard greens, corn and berries will be a part of the menu. Chamber member and business owner Denise McDonald said she and others are trying to secure a chef to do the planning and cooking and then they will create a budget. The town/community calendar will be on the website soon. The chamber is also working on creating stickers for member business windows.
