Wieseman named as superintendent

Brewton school board splits vote

In two rounds of voting Monday afternoon, the Brewton City School Board selected Florence, Ala., High School Principal Kevin Wieseman to be the next superintendent of the school system.

After the list of applicants was narrowed to the five candidates who were interviewed, the board first voted Monday to narrow the list to two.

On the first vote Dennis Fuqua and Michael Turner each got one vote, George Brown received two votes and Wiseman and Kyle Ferguson each received three votes.

On the second vote Wieseman won on a 3-2 vote with Regina Watson, Sybil Brudidge and Ann Peach voting for Wiesman and James Weaver and Spinks Megginson voting for Ferguson.

In the first vote, Weaver voted for Fuqua and Ferguson; Megginson voted for Ferguson and Brown; Peach voted for Wieseman and Ferguson; Brundidge voted for Turner and Wiseman; and Watson voted for Wieseman and Brown.

Attempts to contact Wieseman were unsuccessful.
