Police recover 49 spent gun shell casings

The Atmore police is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in a Halloween Night shooting where nobody was injured but police recovered 49 spent shell casings fired from three different firearms.

Police were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of 4th Avenue at 9:46 p.m., Oct. 31, in reference to shots fired into a residence.

When officers arrived they reported finding the spent shell casings and multiple residences and vehicles had been struck by gunfire.

Atmore police said multiple officers heard the gunfire and began responding to the area. Police also said the officer assigned to patrol that area that night drove through the intersection about four minutes before the gunfire erupted based on GPS installed in the patrol car. All shell casings were recovered and will be analyzed by the police department.

Police Chief Chuck Brooks has been in contact with several federal law enforcement agencies to assist the Atmore Police Department to bring an end to the gun violence occurring in Atmore.

“The subjects involved in this reckless and senseless act will be charged with attempted murder and any other criminal charges that apply,” Brooks said in a press release.

Atmore police are asking if anyone has information concerning the shooting to contact they police department or they can go to [email protected] or simply call the police department with an anonymous telephone call or call their nearest law enforcement agency.

“It’s the Atmore Police Department’s goal to make Atmore safe for everyone,” Brooks said. “it should be the desire of every citizen in Atmore to live in a safe community.”
