Atmore stops lead to five drug arrests

Meth, marijuana, spice confiscated by cops

Atmore police made four traffic stops that led to drug arrests and another drug arrest was made as officers found drugs while making contact with an individual who had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

On Nov. 16, Atmore police initiated a traffic stop on Rockaway Creek Road on a vehicle with an expired tag that led to the passenger being arrested for possessing methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana (spice), marijuana and items used to ingest narcotics.

The passenger, identified as Calvin Thrower, 44, of Atmore was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana II and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

According police reports, after making the traffic stop the officer reported detecting the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed more than a dozen grams of meth, the spice, marijuana and items to ingest the drugs.

The driver, who was not identified, had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was detained for the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

On Nov. 17 about 11:25 a.m. police initiated another traffic stop or Rockaway Creek Road on a vehicle with an expired tag.

The driver was identified as Michael Duncan, 51, of Atmore and after checking his license the officer learned Duncan was wanted on felony warrants in Tennessee. Police reported while searching Duncan they found a hypodermic needle that contained meth residue. Duncan was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.

On Nov. 20, about 7:45 p.m. Atmore police initiated a traffic stop on Highway 21 on a vehicle displaying a license plate that was registered to a different type of vehicle.

Police identified the driver as Scott Foley, 53, of Cantonment and reported Foley displayed ‘suspicious behavior’ and the officer requested a K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed more than 6 dozen grams of meth.

Foley was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and transported to the detention center.

On Nov. 23 about 11:50 a.m. officers initiated a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Drive in reference to the driver, identified as Chandler Lindsey, 23, of Mobile not possessing a valid driver’s license.

Officers reported that Lindsey’s behavior was ‘suspicious’ and the officers were given consent to search the vehicle.

Officers also made contact with the passenger, identified as Victoria Lindsey, 25, of Grand Bay and during a search of the vehicle, officers reported finding a small amount of spice and items used to ingest narcotics.

Chandler Lindsey and Victoria Lindsey were both charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and were transported to the detention center.
