Task force seizes drugs in Conecuh County on I-65
Last Thursday afternoon, the 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, working in conjunction with the Conecuh County Sheriff's Office, seized 32 kilos (70 pounds) of suspected cocaine after making a traffic stop on I-65 in Conecuh County.
The team made a traffic stop on a commercial vehicle on I-65 Northbound at the 86 mile-marker. During the stop, criminal activity was noted which led to a search of the suspect vehicle. Officers found the suspected cocaine in hidden compartment on the trailer.
The suspected cocaine has a street value of $940,000.00. As of now, no arrests have made and no other details on the seizure have been release at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
Conecuh County Sheriff Randy Brock commended those officers involved for their good work in removing a large amount of drugs from the streets and their continued hard work in the battle against drug abuse.
"Removing drugs from the streets of this country is an ongoing problem for law enforcement across the nation," Sheriff Brock said. "By working together through task forces and agency cooperation, a large amount of the dangerous drugs can be kept out of the hands of those preying on the innocent."
