Pollard-McCall student uses Christmas gift from grandparents to help Paws Crossed
Bella Boyd, a kindergarten student at Pollard-McCall Jr. High School recently showed the true meaning of Christmas after her grandparents gave her $100 to purchase whatever she wanted for Christmas.
Bella took that $100 and used it to purchase items for Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in Brewton and put it a donation bucket at the school. The school also collected other donations for Paws Crossed.
"She's just a special person," said Pollard-McCall Principal Junia Fischer. "She's got a great heart and is always wanting to help others or any animal. She's just a loving child."
Fischer said she and the staff at Pollard-McCall are trying to instill that giving feeling to students and asking them to put themselves in other people's shoes.
"She's an amazing girl and a good student," Fischer said. "We are so proud of Bella and her servant's heart."
Although the school is off for the Christmas holidays, the drive to get donations of pet toys, food, blankets and other supplies will continue and donations will continue to be accepted at the school.
Donations are always accepted at the school or at Paws Crossed. For more information on how to donate money, food or toys call Renee Johnson at 251-363-6912.
