Man shot sitting inside his vehicle Dec. 30
Atmore police is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect or suspects in a Dec. 30 shooting on Ashley Street that left one person injured.
According to reports from the Atmore Police Department, about 11:13 p.m. the police department received numerous telephone calls in reference to shots being fired near the 100 block of Ashley Street.
When officers arrived they reported finding a male victim with a single gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The victim was transported by ambulance to Amore Community Hospital. An update on his condition was not available at press time.
Police officers were told the victim was sitting in his car when the suspect or suspects began firing into the vehicle with a weapon believed to be high-powered rifle. Officers reported they recovered about 20 .223-caliber shell casings from the scene.
