Roy gets his new ride from his friends
Christmas came early for Atmore resident Roy Tolin when Steve Stanton, Jeremy Lee, Larry White and Ronnie Hammond pooled their resources to purchase a new bicycle to give Tolin new transportation.
Stanton said he first met Tolin after hearing him on WPFL radio 105 phone ads needing an air conditioner.
"I found him an air conditioner and delivered it to his house," Stanton said. "He works cutting grass and needed some transportation."
Stanton said he, along with Lee, White and Hammond made sure Tolin would have a new bicycle for Christmas.
So, Tolin received new transportation from his friends.
White said Tolin has been a loyal listener to WPFL and is a regular caller to the station's phone ads beginning at noon each day where people can trade, swap or sell anything.
"We learned that Roy needed a new mode of transportation and got together and gave him an early Christmas present," White said. "He's been such a loyal and popular caller to the phone ads we wanted to reach out and help him."
White, Stanton, Hammond and Lee delivered the new bicycle to Tolin before Christmas as a gift from people who cared.
